Esteros del Ibera

Esteros del Ibera was an interactive installation in Buenos Aires that allowed groups of visitors to explore the landscape of the protected Ibera Wetlands in northwest Argentina.

UCLA REMAP and Open Perception‘s OpenPTrack was used as the interface between the visitors’ movements and the piece’s media, enabling them to play through the point of view of individual animals. As individuals moved around the space, their perspectives followed as if moving through nature. When an entire group of visitors was standing still, a kaleidoscope of images presented every option of animal from which to choose. As soon as a person moved, the perspectives of the chosen animals resumed.

A collaboration between REMAP and cheLA, Esteros del Ibera was built at cheLA’s complex and first installed at Tecnópolis, the largest exhibition center in Latin America for science, technology, industry and art—premiering August 8.
