Over the past 6 years, James has worked with Fabian Wagmister, Jeff Burke and the REMAP team on community oriented multi-media projects and events in Los Angeles and oversees, and co-produced 50+ cultural events at his home base: Chiparaki.
James is currently co-producing the first phase of a permanent visual installation in a brand new subway station in the re-developing community of Parque Patricios in Buenos Aires, entitled Memoria Barrial. Everyday about 15,000 people pass through this station in the southern part of the city. This project presents the people of the neighborhood of Parque Patricios and thier history by using a fully navigable 3D environment filled with pictures, video, and sound content. Essentially one can travel through the neighborhood in real space and learn about the lives of the community spanning over 100 years. This neighborhood has been going through drastic changes in the past few years, from essentially being abandoned to now becoming a brand new technological district and the new headquarters for the Banco de la NaciĆ³n Argentina (the biggest bank in Argentina). With all the changes happening, and the direction of the neighborhood being formed right now, this installation presents people with their roots and helps them engage each other in dialogue about their past and how they want the present to be.
Besides constantly being engrossed in learning more about his own identity and the identities of other cultures, in his free time James has been learning more about digital music production. He loves the way sound can intersect the emotional and the intellectual and at times only be one or the other. His current hub of interests include translating digital signal processing and sequencing into live performance. He likes to make himself (and hopefully others) move.
