Manny Francisco

Virtual Production Research Lead.

Manny Francisco is an entertainment industry veteran with more than 25 years of technology-related experience.

As VP of Advanced Creative Technology for NBCU/DreamWorks Animation, he developed its virtual production and real-time workflows, using performance capture, game engine and real-time visualization. Manny was also responsible for architecting Halo, DreamWorks’ virtual studio telepresence system, an immersive unified studio that connected the UK, US, China and India facilities. He has laid the technology foundation for many movies, including the How To Train Your Dragon, Kung Fu Panda and Shrek franchises.

Manny is also a founder and the CTO of the RealTime Conference, which brings together leaders and innovators across industries and around the globe to share and spur the myriad ways real time is changing how we work, play and live. He holds an MSEE from UCLA and a BSEE from Cal State LA, and is an author of several patents for performance capture, telepresence and computer architecture.
