Founded in 2004, UCLA REMAP explores the intersection of technology, culture and community by bridging two world-class institutions—the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television (TFT) and the UCLA Samueli School of Engineering. Its research, production and educational activities enable the next generation of engineers to gain experience creating new artistic forms and tomorrow’s leading artists and storytellers to participate in shaping the very media platforms they will use in the future.
The Center’s activities depend on outside support. The UCLA REMAP Opportunity Fund targets high-risk, high-reward activities by enabling the Center to pursue early-stage seed projects and collaborations, support innovative classes and educational activities in TFT and Samueli, and explore out-of-the-box ideas from promising students, faculty and staff. It is a critical supplement to project-specific funding from sponsors such as the NSF, NEA and industry partners.
