Vanessa is a director of photography and camera operator residing in Los Angeles, California. Since graduating in 2004 with a M.F.A. in cinematography, Vanessa has worked steadily on documentary and reality television shows. In the past year, Vanessa was the Director of Photography for NBC’s “The Biggest Loser” and and worked on the feature documentary “Conan O’Brien Can’t Stop.”
Complementing her documentary work, Vanessa has shot commercials, many short films and 2 independent feature films, in formats ranging from miniDV to 35mm film. A UCLA thesis film she lensed, Eli Akira Kaufman’s “California King” was nominated for a 2007 Student Emmy in the drama category.
Vanessa studied at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television in Film Production with a concentration in Cinematography. While there, she began a collaboration with the UCLA HyperMedia Studio and REMAP (The Center for Research in Engineering, Media and Performance), which is a unique research unit devoted to the collaboration of media, the performing arts and cutting-edge engineering technology in pursuit of new genres of creative expression.
