Vids is a senior researcher in user experience at the Nokia Research Center Hollywood. His research interests are in exploring how mobile and emerging technologies can be applied in playful interactive experiences that encourage social interactions and creative expression.
He has collaborated as an author, designer or software developer on experiences and artworks that combine live performance, interactive narratives, and user generated content and live data from the environment. Some of his recent works include; The Westwood Experience (2010), Remapping-LA Hollywould (2008), Homer in Cyberspace(2008), 1080 Punch-ups(2009), Junction/Juncture(2008).
Vids received his MS in Computer Science in 2005 from UCLA. He was a graduate researcher at CENS, the Center For Embedded Networked Sensing at the Computer Science Department, UCLA. Here he worked on projects in the urban participatory sensing area such as PEIR, which he presented at Wired Nextfest.
After his masters he was a researcher at REMAP, the Center for Research in Engineering, Media and Performance at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. He also has a background in filmmaking with roots in Bollywood.
